EM-U #65: Intrapreneurship

Where:

CERN

at IdeaSquare

Today, over half of the largest economies in the world are global businesses - controlled by the few, and impacting the many. Business clearly has the power to change the world - but what if we, as individuals, had the power to change the world of business? For over a decade, Gib Bulloch led a corporate "guerrilla movement" within one of the world's largest global consulting organisations. Against the odds, he created a not-for-profit inside one of the most profit driven corporations in the world. But success came at a price.

Come and hear Gib talk frankly and openly about the experiences that lead to him writing his first book, The Intrapreneur: Confessions of a corporate insurgent”. Can we reimagine a new role for business in society, where purpose is just as important as profit? Will the change be driven top down or bottom up by a new breed of intrapreneurial employee? And how can we remain resilient in a world that can often seem crazy? We’re hoping for a fun and interactive discussion.

Gib Bulloch is an award-winning social intrapreneur who consults, writes and speaks on topics relating to the role of business in society. After an early career spent at BP and Mars, Bulloch’s epiphany came from a year as a business volunteer with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in the Balkans in 2000. Over the following 15 years, Gib founded and scaled Accenture’s global ‘not-for-loss’ consulting business, Accenture Development Partnerships. He left Accenture in 2016 to write his first book, The Intrapreneur, and to explore new ways of supporting purpose driven insurgencies within the corporate world. Gib serves on the Board of the End Fund and the League of Intrapreneurs. He is an Intrapreneur in Residence at Business Fights Poverty and a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield School of Management.
